2ª Camisola Entrelac/ 2nd entrelac sweater

Esta camisola é um exemplo de como, por vezes, os imprevistos podem levar a um final muito mais interessante do que se estava à espera. A história remonta aqui, quando comprei este novelo de cor mesclada. Decidi que ia fazer uma camisola em entrelac toda nesta cor mas entretanto tinham deixado de fabricar esta cor. Só tinha dois novelos, que não davam para fazer uma camisola... então pensei em fazer duas filas em mesclado e continuar com uma cor lisa, baseada na receita original, e tive a sorte de encontrar aqui o mesmo fio em amarelo. Já tinha tricotado 2 filas em mesclado e ia continuar com o amarelo quando, num momento de feliz inspiração, me apercebi de que ficava muito mais interessante se alternasse as duas cores! O efeito é mesmo o de tiras de cores diferentes entrelaçadas, mas é tão simples de conseguir: consiste apenas em tricotar uma fila de quadrados (ou triângulos) numa cor, a fila seguinte noutra cor e assim sucessivamente. This sweater is an example of how unpredictable things sometimes can lead to a much more interesting end, rather than we could expect. The story begins here, when I bought one ball of this shaded yarn. I’d decided knit a sweater on entrelac but I discovered it had been discontinued. I just had 2 balls, so I decided start with this colour and knit the rest with a solid color. I was lucky for finding the same yarn in solid yellow. I had already knitted 2 ranks of triangles when I suddenly had an inspiration and realized that it would turn out much more interesting if I interchanged the different colors. Final effect looks really like different coloured strips intertwined. And this is so simple to achieve, just by knitting one rank of squares (or triangles) in one colour and the next one in another color and so on. Segui então a receita da outra camisola entrelac, fazendo apenas uma alteração para a largura das mangas. No esquema original as mangas da camisola têm a mesma largura do corpo, ficando bastante largas. Isto é confortável numa camisola tipo camisolão, como a outra que fiz, mas nesta camisola eu queria mangas mais ajustadas. A solução era reduzir uma fila de quadrados. Esta alteração não é difícil mas tem de se ter em conta alguns detalhes, como podem ver no esquema em baixo (à esquerda o esquema original e à direita as alterações). O sentido em que são tricotadas os triângulos na base das mangas é alterado. E para manter o decote centrado tive de reduzir equitativamente, em cima e em baixo, à volta das mangas, em vez de me limitar a reduzir uma fila de quadrados na parte superior ou inferior destas. Ao reduzir a largura das mangas tive também de reduzir a largura do canelado nos punhos.

I followed the pattern of the other entrelac sweater making an alteration on the sleeves width. In the original pattern sleeves have the same width as the body, which turns out too wide. I liked in the other sweater but this one I wanted to be more fitted. Solution was to reduce a rank of squares. The alteration itself is not difficult but they are some details to consider as you can see in the schema below (at left the original schema and at right the amended one). Direction in which the squares are knitted is inverted. And to keep the neckline centered, I had to reduce equally one rank of triangles both above and below the sleeves, instead of just reduce one rank of squares above or below them.

Acabei por tricotar o quadrado entre o corpo e a manga por inteiro, o que facilita tanto ao tricotar como ao vestir a camisola:

Acabei de a coser na véspera de Natal, mesmo a tempo de a estrear na Consoada. Fez bastante sucesso! Várias pessoas ficaram intrigadas com o efeito de tiras cruzadas e pensam que foram cosidas umas às outras, e eu tenho de lhes explicar que é tudo feito ao mesmo tempo. Asseguro-vos que é muito mais fácil do que parece. E o efeito final é interessante, não acham?

I finished it just in time to debut on Christmas Eve and it was quite a success! People were intrigued by the effect of the crossed strips and think they’re sewn to each other, then I have to explain it is all knitted at the same time. I assure you it’s much easier than it looks. And final effect is very interesting, don’t you think?

Inspiração Kim Hargreaves

O meu Natal foi bastante produtivo. Consegui terminar a camisola que andava a fazer a tempo de estreá-la na noite de Natal (uma longa história, assim que tiver fotos decentes conto-vos) e adiantei bastante o meu novo projecto, que entretanto comecei a tricotar com o Kid Classic. Comprei este fio a pensar fazer um modelo da Kim Hargreaves e acabei por me decidir pela Emily (foto acima) da colecção Heartfelt - The Dark House Collection. Já tenho as costas e a frente tricotadas. O fio é extraordinário, tem 70% lambswool e 26% mohair, o que confere aquele toque macio e aspecto inconfundível.

My Christmas was quite productive. I managed to finish the sweater I was knitting just in time to debut on Christmas Eve (a long history, as soon as I have good photos I'll tell you) and advanced quite well my new project with Kid Classic yarn. I bought it thinking on knitting a Kim Hargreaves pattern and I chose Emily (picture above) from Heartfelt - The Dark House Collection. I had the back and the front knitted already. This yarn is amazing, with 70% lambswool and 26% mohair, provides that unique soft touch.

E nem de propósito. Ando eu inspiradíssima para tricotar modelos da Kim Hargreaves (sobretudo aqueles com Kid Classic...) e o que é que descubro, poucos dias depois de chegar de viagem? Que ela lançou outra colecção este Inverno! Uma belíssima colecção, muito colorida e irreverente, chamada Winter Blooms. Adorei as cores, e o conjunto da primeira foto não é um espanto? And here I am, full of inspiration to knit Kim Hargreaves' patterns (especially those with Rowan Kid Classic...) and what did I discover? That she launched another collection for this winter! A beautiful collection, colourful and irreverent, called Winter Blooms. I loved the colours, and the outfit on first picture, isn't it amazing? You can see it all here.
