Camisola Aran (parte II) / Aran sweater (II)
As usual in projects without pattern, it took some hard work to achieve. Sometimes one must simply try on. Matching sleeves with armholes took me to some do/undo/redo. Another detail was the collar. In other hand, work really well and it gave me an enormous satisfaction knitting the first sweater for my soul mate.
Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, in her “Knitting Rules!” book, refers to the Sweater Curse, which holds that “ if you knit a romantic partner a sweater before there’s a commitment with some sort of legal binding, he will, within days or weeks of your delivering a sweater into a previously happy relationship, dump you and take the sweater with him. This is quite painful. There really are other fish in the dating sea and people survive painful break-ups all the time. The real tragedy is that he gets away with a great sweater…”
I think it won’t be our case. I’ll find some way of getting back the sweater anyway ;)

V-neck
My boyfriend wanted a v-neck that was not very wide. I liked the idea of knitting this sort of neckline, but without a pattern it was quite probable I couldn’t do it right at first time… The first measures I took for the neck shaping seemed me right but after knitting the collar I got something like a turtle-V-neck, too tight! Solution: undo and redo the upper front to enlarge neck shaping. At second try I got the perfect measure.
Knitting a V-neck is very simple:
- place a marker on the central stitch (knit stitch),
- each second row, slip the central stitch and the anterior stitch knitwise to right-hand needle without knitting,

Rib and tubular cast-on
Here there is the detail of tubular cast-on I used on 1/1 rib and I already explained how to do here. As you can see, cast on isn’t perceptible, the edge results elastic just like the ribs of industrial knitted pieces.

Very warm and cosy, even Nino was pleased.
