Christmas Scarf

Finalmente um projecto terminado! E menos 6 novelos no stash. :)
O nome da receita é literalmente o cachecol de Natal. Na altura aproveitei uma promoção e o nº de novelos disponíveis desta marca nesta cor eram exactamente iguais aos da receita, pelo que ficou logo decidido que se destinariam a este projecto.

The name of this pattern is literally the Christmas scarf. I bought this yarn in a promotion and the number of balls available from this brand and in this colour were exactly the same the pattern asked for, so it was decided that they would be intended for this pattern.  

Receita /Pattern: Christmas scarf 

Fio /Yarn: Schachenmayr Extra Merino Big 100% merino (50g/90m) - 300g na cor 192

Agulhas /Needles: 5,5 mm

Era para ser um cachecol para mim, mas à medida que ia tricotando comecei a achar que este cachecol tinha um look mais masculino e por isso achei que se adequaria melhor ao meu namorado. Combinando com o próprio nome da receita e com a época, tornou-se uma prenda antecipada. Ele adorou!
No início comecei a tricotar com agulhas 5 mm mas o cachecol estava a ficar muito estreito e o ponto demasiado apertado (por si só, o canelado e os torcidos já tendem a estreitar o trabalho) pelo que recomecei com agulhas 5,5 mm: foi o suficiente para aumentar as dimensões para as pretendidas.
Dimensões finais (após "blocagem"): 158 x 25 cm

It was meant to be a scarf for me but while I was knitting it seemed to me that this scarf had a quite more masculine look, so I thought that it would suit better to my boyfriend. Following the own pattern name and the time of the year it became an early gift. He loved it!
At the beginning I started knitting with 5 mm needles but it was too tight so I undid it and changed to 5,5 mm needles.
Final dimensions (after blocking): 158 x 25 cm

Mal tenho tempo para dar conta dos novelos que já há cá em casa e não resisto a continuar a juntar mais... Estas são as mais recentes aquisições.

O Extra Merino Big – que já está a ser transformado neste cachecol – e o Gedifra Fashion Trend num verde adorável foram adquiridos este Verão numa promoção aqui. O Extra Big é 100% lã, o Fashion Trend tem 51% lã e são absolutamente deliciosos.

I hardly have time to knit all the yarn I have at home and I can’t resist to keep buying more… These are my recent acquisitions.   

Extra Merino Big – which is already being transformed in this scarf – and Gedifra Fashion Trend in a lovely green were acquired this late summer from a promotion here. Extra Merino Big is 100% merino wool, Fashion Trend has 51% wool and both are absolutely delicious.

Os fios Red Heart - Helsinki e Niki - foram adquiridos há dias num hipermercado (procurem expositores Red Heart junto às zonas têxtil, estes foram no Continente...). Estes fios têm uma qualidade bastante razoável a preços fantásticos o que os torna numa excelente opção para tricotadeiras com orçamentos mais limitados (não somos todas nós?) ou para projectos que requeiram maior quantidade de lã. É o caso do fio Helsinki que se destina a um projecto mais ambicioso, um casaco comprido da Kim Hargreaves. Agora vamos ver se tenho tempo para tricotar tudo isto. O cachecol já está começado e espero terminá-lo em breve: é daqueles projectos simples o suficiente para tricotar enquanto se vê televisão à noite, ainda que na maior parte das vezes acabe por adormecer... Também tenho outros projectos começados/pendurados do outro Inverno que ainda não foram aqui mostrados e que podem passar à frente... Red Heart yarns - both Helsinki and Niki - were acquired a few days ago in a store of a hypermarket chain. These yarns have a quite reasonable quality at great prices which makes an excellent option for knitters with a more limited budget (aren’t we all?) or for projects requiring more quantity of yarn. It’s the case of Helsinki yarn which is intended to make a long coat from Kim Hargreaves. Now I only hope to have time to knit all this. The scarf is already begun and I hope finish it soon: it’s a pattern simple enough to knit while watching tv at night but in most cases I end up falling asleep! I also have other projects started or waiting since last winter that were not shown here yet and which can appear first… Let there be time! You can follow me and to my stash at Ravelry too.
